Lola Lee Roberson Mutherspaw, 80, of 210 Miss Phillips Rd., went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 29,2010 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Born July 17, 1929 in Staunton, she was a daughter of the late Lenoard and Minerva Cale Roberson.
She was a former employee of the Staunton Tastee Freeze on West Beverly Street for 22 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warrick Mutherspaw, three brothers, Edmund Harold Roberson, James Franklin “Bud” Roberson, Elmer Ray Roberson, two sisters, Alma Mae Armentrout and Nora Ann Chandler.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Joann (Jo) Gaines and her husband James of Takoma Park, Maryland, two sons, Billy Wayne Mutherspaw and Wanda of Verona, Richard Allen “Ricky” Mutherspaw and his wife Tonya of Swoope, three sisters, Mary Margaret Moats and her husband Gene of Staunton, Betty Ann Hoover and her husband Bill, Delsie Rebecca “Curly” Knight, all of Swoope, four grandchildren, Anthony and Jason Gaines, Teresa and Denise Mutherspaw, six great-grandchildren, Lauren, Tyler, Brandon, Trevor, Nicky and Shauna.
She also leaves a number of nieces, nephews and a very special and loved sister-in-law, Betty Diehl and special friend, Sonya Carter.
She loved her children and they were the joy of her life.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes by the Rev. Alvin Dovel.
Burial will follow in Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Swoope.
Active pallbearers will be William A. Via, Donald Moats, Adam Smith, Billy Shifflett, Lawrence Armentrout, and Arlen Breeden.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 PM today, Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Dr. Herring and his staff, Dr. Ann Henry, Dr. Long and the physicians and staff of Augusta Health for the care they provided during her illness.
