Life Legacy
Lavonne Chandler, 60, of Waynesboro, was promoted to glory on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with colon cancer.
Born Saturday, June 11, 1949, in Harrisonburg, VA, the daughter of Fairy Bruce Estes and the late Roy Estes. A member of Wayside Baptist Church, Waynesboro, Lavonne had worshipped and sang with the Wayside Gospel Singers for more than 25 years. She was presently working at the North 340 Campground and had also been employed with the Comfort Inn for 15 years. Mrs. Chandler enjoyed cooking, singing and her grandchildren. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mom, maw maw honey, daughter, sister and friend to all who knew her.
In addition to her father, Lavonne was also preceded in death by her brother, Calvin Estes.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving husband of more than 43 years, Terry L. Chandler; children, Laurie Hailey and husband Ray, Tabitha Brydge and husband Brian, Shane Chandler, and Katina Eavey and husband Chris. Her mother Fairy Estes, two brothers, Larry and Tony Estes; sister, Vanessa Morris; grandchildren, Joshua Chandler and wife Jamey, Jessica Bell, Makayla Frazier, Isaac Hailey, Jessica, Tyler and Devin Brydge, Ryan and Katie Chandler, Dale and Kelsie Eavey and Whitney Floriano; as well as two great grandchildren, Natalee Chandler and Rylynn Fitzgerald survive. Also surviving is a huge number of relatives and friends, including special cousins, Jay, Tammy, Jayson and Jared Collins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 5, 2010, at Wayside Baptist Church, 45 Turk Mountain Road, Waynesboro, with Reverends Jerry Cline and Randy Blankenship officiating. Active pallbearers will include, Joe Harris, Sr., Bruce Crum, Andy Fletcher, Joe Harris, Jr., Scott Punswick, Steve and Travis Spradlin, Robert Fitzgerald, Timmy Johnson and Eddie Terrell. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, nieces, nephews and church members attending. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Thursday, February 4, 2010, in the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 618 West Main Street.
