Elizabeth Lesser Purviance of Nellyford, Virginia, passed away at 7:10 AM on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in the comfort of her home.
She was born on April 6, 1921, in Frackville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William Henry Lesser and Lucy Nelson Lesser.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harmon Montgomery Purviance lll.
Survivors include her son, Harmon Montgomery Purviance lV of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; her daughter, Elizabeth Purviance Pyle of Wintergreen, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Jeannette Norquist Purviance of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; her brother, William Henry Lesser Jr. of Westbrook, Connecticut; and her grandson, William Arthur Trainor lll of Woodbridge, Virginia.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She took great pleasure in her family, gardening, crafts and in sharing stories about her childhood in the coal region of Pennsylvania and family connections to key events in Virginia history.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Rockfish Presbyterian Church by the Reverend David Cameron. Inurnment will follow at the church cemetery.
There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 700, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
