Biography

Stella Clark Shaffer, 79, of Lyndhurst passed away February 28, 2010 at Augusta Health.
Born Friday, February 27, 1931 in Marion, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Weidner) Clark.
Mrs. Shaffer was a member of Lyndhurst United Methodist Church and in her spare time enjoyed visiting with her family, traveling and shopping at yard sales.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by brothers, Charles and George Clark; sister, Edith Henderson and granddaughter, Deana Marie Deaver.
Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, George Shaffer; sons, Vernie Carrico Jr. and wife Eula Mae and Webb Shaffer and wife Nancy Fox; daughters, Sandra Fitzgerald and husband Ralph, Diana Lembo and husband Dickie and Carol Shaffer and husband Harry Payne; brother, William Clark; sisters, Mary Frances Brooks and Juanita Via; grandchildren, Vernie Carrico III, Angie Glass, Jr. Fitzgerald, Sabrina vonSchilling, Melissa Huskins, William Deaver Jr., Christal Weidner, Michael Payne and Gil Alvarez; 15 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Lyndhurst United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Dettmer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Roger Flesher, EJ Hewitt, Ralph Oakes, Tony Floyd, Jimmy Henderson and Johnny Lipscomb.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
