Biography

Robert Earle Emery, 83, of Waynesboro, passed away Wednesday morning, March 3, 2010 at Loyalton of Staunton.
He was born October 24, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Earle S. and Mabel Glensor Emery.
Mr. Emery was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Waynesboro Elks Lodge. Prior to moving to Waynesboro, he lived in Warrenton, VA for 43 years where he was a charter member of the Warren-Culpeper Elks Lodge. He also was a charter member of the Hicksville, NY Elks Lodge. He enjoyed helping with the Elks Hoop Shoot and helping kids get scholarships for over fifty years. During World War II, he was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce L. Emery; one son, Clayton S. Emery and his wife Wendy of Marshall; one daughter, J. Lynn Whitlock of FL; grandchildren, Siobhan Heather Jones, Andrew Clayton Emery, Erica Emery Peterson and Brandi Shiflett; great-grandchildren, Destiny and Jamie Shiflett..
A memorial service will be conducted 3:30 P.M. Friday, in the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev. James Pence officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery with the Waynesboro Elks Lodge conducting a graveside service.
The family will receive friends 6 to 7 P.M. Thursday at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and Crematory.
