Biography

Ralph Lewis Mowry, Sr., 91 of Staunton passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Shenandoah Nursing Home.
He was born January 9, 1919 in Staunton, son of the late William Bell and Myrtle Coffey Mowry.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice White Mowry.
Mr. Mowry was a member of Central United Methodist Church and served with the U. S. Army during WWII. He retired from the Staunton Post Office as a rural letter carrier and was also a lifetime farmer.
He is survived by three sons, Ralph L. Mowry, Jr and his wife Tammy of Shenandoah; Randolph L. Mowry of NY, NY; and William B. Mowry and his wife LaDonna of Lyndhurst; one brother, Charles E. Mowry of Staunton; one sister, Thelma DePriest of Staunton; four grandchildren, Denice Mowry, Jennifer CeCe, Jacob Mowry and Seth Mowry.
A service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Central United Methodist Church with Dr. Stephanie Sault officiating and certificated lay leader Jim Sumner assisting. Burial will follow at Thornrose Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be William H. Bushman, Jack True, Benjamin True, Daniel Mowry, Justin Gilbert and Wesley Cash.
Honorary pallbearers will be Seth Mowry, Jacob Mowry, , William G. Bushman, Joseph G. Bongiovani IV, Dylan Leitch, and Anthony Winegar.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and Crematory.
