Marsha Louise Tiyona

Biography

Marsha Louise Tiyona, 51, of Waynesboro, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.

She was born in Chamberlain, South Dakota, on May 2, 1959, a daughter of the late Clinton J. Tiyona and Thelma L. Greyowl. She was also preceded in death by her adoptive father, Reverend Claude A. Snider. She was a member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe in Ft. Thompson, South Dakota.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Greyowl.

Survivors include her adoptive mother, Frances Snider, of Wisconsin; children, Jeremiah Johnson, of Roanoke, Jessica Johnson, of Waynesboro, and Robin Johnson, of Harrisonburg; three brothers, Kris, Karl and Kurt Snider; three sisters, Karen Snider, Iris Sargeant and Lexi Tiyona. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Chelsey, Tiyona, Mikyla, Audra, Jacob, Lilly, Jayda, Julias, Elijah, Dominic, Madison, Aryan and Imala; and her companion, Shane Hendricks.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 23, 2010, at 4:00 P.M., in the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 618 West Main Street, with Reverend Karen R. Taylor officiating.
