Life Legacy


Lillie K. (Strickler) Hogsett, 77, of Staunton, went home to be with her heavenly Father, Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Envoy of Staunton.

Born October 27, 1932, in Augusta County, VA, she was a daughter of the late Preston David and Lillie Mae (Callison) Strickler. A member of Verona Full Gospel Church, Mrs. Hogsett’s faith and spirituality were always first and foremost in her mind. But nothing could surpass the love she had for her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hogsett was preceded in death by her husband Charles Layton Hogsett and one great granddaughter, Angel Miller.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Smith and her husband James, of Staunton and Sheila Reed, of Stuarts Draft; three sons, Charles Hogsett and his wife Cathy, of Churchville, Wayne Hogsett, also of Churchville and Steve Hogsett and his wife Theresa, of Fishersville; two sisters, Emma Tew, and Elizabeth Farmer; four brothers, Rev. William, Marvin, Rev. Lee and Robert Strickler; 10 grandchildren, Randy, Misty, Sam, Stormi, Mandy, Michael, Stephen, Jessica, Kim and Doug; as well as, 18 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 26, 2010, at 11:00 A.M., in Verona Full Gospel Church, 53 Adams Lane, Verona, VA 24482, with Reverends William Strickler and Peter Grimm officiating. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Pallbearers will include Larry and Marvin Strickler, Justin Roadcap, Jonathan Wells, Doug Smith and George Lambert.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., on Saturday, July 24, 2010, in the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 18 West Frederick Street.
