Life Legacy
Dr. Daniel Wesley Pemberton, 87, formerly of College Circle, passed away at 3:24 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville. Dr. Pemberton was born Dec. 18, 1922, in Augusta County, the son of the late Berkeley Miller and Margaret Dunlap Pemberton.
He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and Northern Illinois College of Optometry.
He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Staunton and of the American Optometric Association, Virginia Optometric Association and the Southeastern Optometric Association. He also held membership in the Jaycees, Lions and Kiwanis clubs in Staunton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Trenor Pemberton; a son, Dr. Berkeley M. Pemberton and wife, Lee, of Staunton; two daughters, Jane P. Cline and husband, Dean, of Mount Sidney and Ann P. Blosser and husband, Joseph E., of Staunton; four grandchildren, Rosalie Pemberton Fessier and husband, Michael W., of Staunton, Mary Lee Pemberton McDavid and husband, Frederick R. III, of Verona, Matthew A. Cline of Mount Sidney and Samuel P. Blosser of Staunton; four great-grandchildren, M. William and B. Daniel Fessier, F. Rhodes McDavid IV and Waverly J. McDavid; and cousins, Dan and Gail Pemberton of Alexandria.
Following a Private Family Interment, a Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 30, 2010, at Central United Methodist Church, 14 N. Lewis St., Staunton, with the Rev. Dr. Stephanie Sault officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening, July 29, 2010, at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 18 W. Frederick Street.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Central United Methodist Church, PO Box 953, Staunton, VA 24402 or to Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad, PO Box 2566, Staunton, VA 24402.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
